As a major employer in the Transportation/Logistics/Cargo industry, you know first hand the challenge of finding and keeping good people. With industry employment forecast to rise and baby-boomer retirements underway, many companies are competing for the available top talent. Push your organization to the top of the “employer of choice” list by participating in a ground-breaking new industry effort! To assist employers in the cargo segment in developing training and career paths for industry professionals, the U.S. Department of Labor Education and Training Administration (DoL ETA) has awarded a grant to Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) to develop a specialized program for the transportation industry. Catalyst Learning Company (CLC) is charged with assessing national employer needs in major air/sea cargo communities. CLC will make recommendations as to specific courses that will help national employers achieve high-priority workforce development goals based on input like yours. Credit and noncredit curricula will be produced to increase the number of qualified, credentialed professionals in the transportation workforce. Six credit courses and five noncredit courses are planned; all incorporate critical homeland security components for handling hazardous and sensitive cargo in the nation’s seaports and airports. The on-line courses include - Workplace Safety, Customer Service, Import/Export, Homeland Security and Principles of Supervision.
