CareerCare is your organization’s pro-active approach to workforce development and succession planning.  The CareerCare on-line system helps mid-level employees plan and manage their careers with your organization - the only such tool customized exclusively for the healthcare industry.   Employees assess their interests and develop a career and learning plan that meshes with your workforce development needs.

CareerCare users possess the ability to work independently and have demonstrated critical thinking skills.  These employees have titles like Lab Tech, Office Coordinator, Patient Service Representative, Team Lead, and Supervisor.  They are employees who have the motivation and potential to embark on a higher level position, but need to assess their interests and develop a career and learning plan before selecting a specific career path.

CareerCare Helps Hospitals
Move the Needle on Critical Employee Engagement Measures
Many hospitals are challenged by low engagement survey scores on questions surrounding opportunity for growth and development. CareerCare sends a clear message to employees that your organization is pro-active in offering them opportunity for exploration and advancement.

Prepare the Next Generation of Leaders
CareerCare is a practical succession planning tool that helps high-potential talent identify career options and provides their advisors/mentors with a framework to have the career advancement discussion.  Self-reflection, a customized interest survey and jobs research result in an Individual Development Plan that aligns the employee and organizational “fit”.  This versatile tool facilitates your ability to advance employees within the organization.

Maximize Tuition Reimbursement Investments
Have you experienced the wasted time and effort of having an employee take a coveted clinical education program slot, begin it, and then decide that it’s not a fit?  CareerCare helps participants better understand themselves and the jobs they’re working towards, before the hospital begins investing in tuition reimbursement.

Redeploy Loyal Employees

With electronic medical records and other new technologies and processes making certain positions extinct, CareerCare provides a tool to help loyal employees find alternate career paths aligned to their interests and your needs.  This is a win-win; they “own” their career development and you retain employees who have proven to be a good fit with your organization.

Increase Diversity in Clinical and Management Staff
Many hospitals are working to have their caregivers and leaders better mirror the patient population. For organizations looking to increase the number of minority employees in clinical and management positions, but do not have the staff to provide one-on-one advising, CareerCare is a way to identify and propel high-potential employees.
Save Time
If you’ve avoided providing a more formal career advising system due to lack of human resources, CareerCare enables you to get started now on providing this important employee benefit. Its self-paced design and automation of job research, school search and other functions will save HR staff 3-4 hours per employee participant. CareerCare creates an exciting opportunity for HR to significantly increase the number of people moving forward within your organization.

Reduce Turnover

Extensive research from Gallup, Press Gainey and others consistently demonstrates that employees are more likely to remain with organizations that provide them an opportunity to grow and develop. Catalyst Learning programs have been proven to provide 8-23% higher retention than category average.

Automation Expands Access and Saves Time

CareerCare is an online career advising system that lets HR significantly increase the number of people moving forward within your organization.  Employees receive an individual license that walks them through the four-step process.  Participants complete the activities independently over 11-17 hours and develop a customized Individual Development Plan (IDP).

A hospital’s CareerCare investment begins with a consulting call with Catalyst Learning’s Client Relations team to discuss the organization’s needs and goals.  The result is a customized linkage of high-demand jobs at your hospital to CareerCare’s recommended job groups.

Customized Career Interest Survey

Career Interest Survey
CareerCare’s healthcare-specific Career Interest Survey is a self assessment tool that provides your employee with an objective look at personal interests, as applied to jobs in your unique environment. After completing an interest survey, each employee receives an extensive report customized to the healthcare industry.

Students receive list of top job groups after completing survey

Jobs Data Base and Videos

The next two steps of the process, “Exploring and Investigating Career Options” are completed in the  Research Section, which includes an in-depth description of over 225 healthcare jobs in 23 different categories. Employees have access to brief job shadowing videos that enhance the exploration process.  By learning about the skills needed for specific jobs, employees confidently explore careers they know are a good fit and quickly eliminate other jobs without the time and expense of job shadowing.
